Recut

Latest version:Unknown
Release date:Unknown

Recut is an automatic video editor that removes silence from recordings. It analyzes audio and video files to locate silent passages and builds a cut list automatically, which can be exported as XML to a non-linear editor for a non-destructive rough cut. Multi-track support lets cuts span several cameras and microphones at once, and the tool runs on macOS, Windows and Linux.

Recut takes on the most time-consuming part of editing talking-head and interview footage: cutting out silence. It analyzes the audio and video files to find the passages with no sound and assembles a cut list automatically, which a non-linear editor then picks up. The exported XML is a non-destructive rough cut that leaves the original files untouched, so pacing and the choice of takes can still be adjusted in the original project. Multi-track support identifies material across several cameras and microphones at once, which suits creators who need a first cut quickly.
