Mountain Duck is a file client for macOS and Windows that mounts remote storage as a local drive, so you can work with files on a server the way you would with anything on your desktop. It connects to the major cloud providers — Amazon S3, Google Drive, Dropbox, Microsoft OneDrive and Backblaze B2 among them — as well as to plain FTP, SFTP, WebDAV and rsync servers, all from a single window. Because the files appear as an ordinary mounted volume, applications can open, edit and save them directly without uploading and downloading first, and Finder or Explorer search will look inside the remote storage too. Encryption in transit and at rest is handled for you, and you can choose whether files are cached locally or streamed on demand, which matters when you are working on a large dataset over a slow link. The application is free to try, with a paid licence for ongoing use.
