Elephas is private AI for work with your own documents. You add PDFs, Word documents, spreadsheets, slide decks and scanned pages, or a whole folder, and it reads and indexes them on your computer. You then ask questions in plain language; Elephas searches the documents, reads the relevant passages and writes an answer, citing your files so you can open a source and see the quoted passage and the page, slide or sheet it came from. Search and personal-detail masking work across English, German, Spanish, French, Japanese and Chinese, and you can ask in one language about a document written in another. You choose where answers are generated: the bundled Elephas AI, your own API key with OpenAI, Claude or Gemini, or a model downloaded to run on your computer. Documents, the search index and chats stay on your machine in an encrypted database. Teams can share a Brain with end-to-end encrypted sync and role-based access, on Mac and Windows.
